Lu Li studied at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and Maastricht University in the Netherlands, where she received a Master degree in Laws (LL.M.) and a Master degree in Arts Management (M.A) respectively. She joined SPARK Architects Beijing Office from 2011 as an office manager, and continues being an office manager after SPARK Beijing changed the name to CLOU from 2016.
